Steps to Spring registration
Spring registration will be
different from what you experienced this summer.
You will be using MyUAlbany to make your
own schedule. The instructions below will
help you to navigate the registration process.
1. Find out when you can register.
Logon to MyUAlbany and click on the link that
says 'When can I enroll'. The date that you
can begin registration is listed on this screen.
See below.
2. Make an appointment to see your
advisor at least two weeks ahead of your
registration date.
You should use Advisortrac on the Advisement
Services Center homepage to make an appointment
to see your academic advisor at least two weeks
before your actual registration date.
Note: Advisortrac will not let you
schedule an appointment more than one month in
advance. Click
here for instructions for using Advisortrac.
3. Review your degree audit and
MAP.
Your degree audit is found by logging into MyUAlbany and clicking on the link that says
'View my degree audit'. Your degree audit
will list all of the courses that you have
taken, are taking, and need to take for general
education, your major, and your minor.
Your advisor will show you how to use your
degree audit.
See a sample audit and instructions. You
should also review the major academic pathway
(MAP) that corresponds to your intended degree
program. You can find the
MAPs on the
Advisement Services homepage.
4. Meet with your academic
advisor, obtain your AVN, and enter it into MyUAlbany.
When you meet with your advisor, you will
talk about your degree audit, course selection,
goals, and the registration process. Once you have met with your academic advisor,
he or she will give you an AVN or Advisor
Verification Number. This number needs to
be entered into MyUAlbany before you will be
allowed to register. Click on the link
that says 'Enter My AVN'.
5. Search the Schedule
of classes to make a tentative schedule.
The Schedule of Classes search lists all of
the classes that are taught in the spring
semester, along with the number of remaining
seats in each. This
search can be found on the Advisement Services
home page or the MyUAlbany logon page.
Based on your discussion with your advisor, you can
begin to plan
a tentative schedule, recognizing that you
may need to choose alternative courses or
sections depending on the seats available when
you register. Try to use the entire week
when planning a schedule. Three courses on MWF and two courses on TTH seem to work best for
most students. Click
here
for details about using the Schedule of classes
search.
6. Register for classes using
MyUAlbany.
When your day and time to register arrives,
you can use the tentative schedule that you have
planned to enroll in classes using MyUAlbany.
You will need to click on the 'Enroll, drop, or
Add' link and begin to search classes or enter
class numbers that you have already found. Click
here for instructions for using MyUAlbany.
