Media Advisory/Photo Op: UAlbany's Kermit L. Hall Inks Historic Agreement with East China Normal University

ALBANY, N.Y. (May 10, 2006)

What:
University at Albany President Kermit L. Hall will sign the first Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with officials from East China Normal University to expand research collaborations, joint degree and curricular programs, and strengthen undergraduate and graduate education experiences of the two universities through regular student and faculty exchanges.

Background:
UAlbany President Kermit L. Hall has made China a strategic focus in his efforts to internationalize the University as a higher education institution. The UAlbany-ECNU partnership is the first of several cooperative efforts the University is undertaking to raise its international profile. Hall has worked with colleagues in the United States and China to initiate collaborations between UAlbany and Fudan University, Sichuan University, and Nanjing University, and East China Normal University.
