Media Advisory: UAlbany Promotes "Green" Campus by Signing Climate Commitment

ALBANY, N.Y. (May 2, 2008)

What:
Interim President George M. Philip will further demonstrate the University at Albany-SUNY’s commitment to environmental sustainability and eco-friendly practices by signing the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment. Philip will sign the agreement on the eve of the University's annual Campus Cleanup Day.

Courtyard in front of Social Sciences building, academic podium, University at Albany uptown campus, 1400 Washington Ave., Albany, N.Y.

Background:
The American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment recognizes the unique leadership role and obligation that institutions of higher education have in responding to the global climate crisis. The University at Albany joins more than 520 other institutions in a collective effort to reduce carbon emissions across the United States. Other University-wide environmental sustainability initiatives include "UAlbany Goes Green," as well as events and activities like Recyclemania, Campus Cleanup, and the Farmer's Market.
