DeLong Appointed Associate Dean of CCI

Professor Stephen E. DeLong, who has served UAlbany for nearly 35 years, was recently appointed associate dean of the College of Computing and Information.  DeLong has been director of the University's Project Renaissance program for first-year students.

In addition, DeLong has stepped down as interim chair of the Information Studies department, allowing Professor Terrence A. Maxwell to take on the role of chair.

DeLong has served the University in many prominent administrative roles, such as associate vice president for Academic Affairs/Information Systems and acting executive director of a community communications network, CRISNY, which was the first to bring the Internet to many residing in New York's Capital Region.  His contributions to the University include innovations to academic and research programs in information science and technology and expansion of the introductory course on Internet and Information Access of Information Studies.  The expansion of the introductory course allowed students to gain valuable computer and information skills that can be applied in any field of study and career.
