Internal Control Hotline

(April 7, 2006)

Internal Control Hotline

Many on campus last fall encountered the revitalized Internal Control Program, attending brief internal control primers and completing internal control questionnaires. In a similar vein, the University at Albany has established a separate Internal Control Hotline. Its purpose is to provide a mechanism for those in the UAlbany community to report in a confidential and, if desired, anonymous manner on suspected or observed wrongdoing.

Ethical lapses can take many forms and in some cases are easily identifiable as such, while in other cases identification of ethical drift may not be simple. This hotline continues the University's efforts to establish and maintain a sound internal control environment, and so is designed to enhance internal control, which is so critical to the integrity of the University. Reportable activity may include observed or suspected frauds, thefts, embezzlements, falsification of University records, or other financial offenses against the University, and may include University funds or other funds entrusted to the University.

Observed or suspected wrongdoing at the University at Albany may be reported by telephone, e-mail, or regular mail.
