What is American Heart Walk?
It's More Than A Walk
The American Heart Walk is the American Heart Association's premiere walking and fund-raising event that takes place in over 1000 cities every year. The event focuses on preventing heart disease and stroke by raising money to support heart research and heart healthy lifestyle programming. The Walk involves people taking the first steps toward heart-healthy, potential lifesaving activities: regular exercise and balanced nutrition. This year more than 300,000 walkers are expected to participate. This non-competitive event typically occurs on the last weekend of September and on the first weekend of October, and involves hundreds of thousands of people all over the country. The company-based structure draws teams from companies and businesses nationwide.
Celebrates and Honors Survivors of Heart Disease and Stroke
The Walk also celebrates and honors individuals who have survived a heart attack, heart surgery, or a stroke. Survivors are given a red cap to wear on the day of event to visualize the incidence of heart disease in our country.
It's for Everyone and Easy to Do
You can walk alone, with your family, or choose to be a Company Leader and rally your company's management and employees, and their families to support the event and recruit teams of walkers. Then participate in the American Heart Walk in your community. Walkers collect donations before the event from family, friends, co-workers, etc. and earn great prizes.
