Our staff includes Professional Staff Members, Graduate Students, Peer Career Advisors and Student Assistants to help students with career issues.

Professional staff

Noah Simon
Director

Education:
Noah graduated from St. Lawrence University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master’s degree in Counseling from The College of St. Rose.

Office Life:
With over 18 years’ experience providing career services in both academic and private sectors, Noah currently serves as the Director of Career and Professional Development. In this role he oversees the office that provides the full gamut of career development services to undergraduate, and graduate students; serves as a University Faculty Expert; maintains and cultivates relationships with employers and alumni to enhance opportunities for students.

Additionally, he serves as Past President for the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers. 

Out of Office Life:
In his spare time you can find Noah with his family. Whether it’s on a football field, basketball court or dance studio there’s a good chance he is with his wife Marianne, ’05, PsyD from UAlbany and his children, Joshua, age 10 and Olivia, age 7.

Cathy Parker
Associate Director


Education
:
Cathy Parker has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from SUNY New Paltz.  

Office Life:
Cathy manages the team that provides all of the career coaching.  In addition she also does presentations on professional etiquette, networking and personal branding, diversity issues, Clifton Strengths for Students, MBTI and other career related topics.  Before coming to the University she worked for IBM and other computer companies.  She has over 20 years’ experience working in the computer industry as an engineer, marketing manager, and corporate coach.  She is a certified in MBTI, Clifton StrengthsFinder, and as a Life Coach.

Out of Office Life:
Cathy is an avid reader and she also enjoys playing the guitar, singing, and creating collages. 

Jermaine Harris
Associate Director Employer Relations
Education:
Jermaine graduated from University at Albany with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Master of Arts in Liberal Studies.


Office Life:
Jermaine oversee the employer relations team, the coordination of employer outreach and engagement, and managing the university career platform Handshake. He believes it is important that students be aware of all the opportunities and resources available in regards to career and professional development whether a career fair, site visit, open interviews, employer hosted event or competition students must remain proactive in their career path endeavors.

Out of Office Life:
Jermaine is an avid exerciser, gamer, foodie. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, and participating in community service events.  

Kathleen Gargan
Assistant Director


Education:

Kathleen graduated from The College of Saint Rose with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Education from the College Student Services Administration program.

Office Life:

Kathleen is passionate about fostering inclusive environments and advocating for equal access to education and opportunities for students. Kathleen supports students through coaching and mentoring them to achieve their personal, professional, and academic goals. She co-coordinates the Peer Career Advising Program, presents on professional development topics across campus, works one to one with students on their career paths, and more.

    Out of Office Life:
Kathleen’s background includes work in residential life, career services, diversity and inclusion, and more. She participates in volunteer and advocacy work with non-profit agencies when she’s outside of the office. She loves musicals, the arts, and is an animal lover!

  

Roberto Peguero
Assistant Director Alumni Outreach & Development


Education:

Roberto received his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies form Syracuse University, which afterward, he received his Masters of Education in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University, as well as, a graduate certificate in Non-Profit Management. Additionally, Roberto received a Masters of Theology with an emphasis on Discipleship Ministries and Administration.   

Office Life:

Roberto, in his role strives to build career related relationships with alumni that in turn will produce meaningful applied learning opportunities for UAlbany students through company site visits, career readiness skills programs, and other career exploration activities.    

Out of Office Life:
Roberto is the Eastern Region Director for Social Action for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.  In this role Roberto provides leadership to thousands of members in states ranging from Maine to Virginia, and including the U.S. Virgin Islands in the areas of social and political action.  A proud Afro-Latino, Roberto traces his roots back to Quisqueya, West Africa and Spain.  His favorite sports teams are the Syracuse Orange, Dallas Cowboys, NY Knicks, and NY Yankees!    

Tibisay Hernandez
Assistant Director Employer Relations


Education:

Tibisay is a 2 time Alumnus of the institution she has: a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, A Masters in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology, and is currently a doctoral candidate in the Education, Theory and Practice program.

Office Life:
In her role in the office, Tibisay conducts oversees the On Campus Interview process. Although, her work revolves heavily around employers she is frequently used as a sounding board for several University at Albany students. Tibisay also serves as an advisor student organizations; is a Sexual Assault Prevention trainer and certified Implicit Bias trainer. Tibisay is dedicated to helping Great Danes believe in their potential, and helping employers find their next Great Dane employee.

Out of Office Life:
Tibisay has a special interest in issues of diversity and inclusion, with a special interest in first generation college students. She is an Hermana of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. Her favorite title is Mom to her two children!


Stephanie Carson

Assistant Director Employer Relations


Education
:
Stephanie graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration with a focus on Management at the University at Albany.


Office Life:
Stephanie is part of a team that manages our Handshake system as well as co-managing assessment efforts for the office. She also helps to prepare students for the world after graduation and always stays on top of the latest recruiting trends by partnering with professionals in varying industries.

Stephanie is a member of Eastern ACE and the Capital Region Career Consortium. Stephanie is passionate about the importance of soft skills in and out of the work place and does her best to turn any situation into a learning experience around these skills.

Out of Office Life:
Stephanie is an avid hiker, snowboarder and water skier. Stephanie also enjoys her artistic side by playing the piano and drums.  


Vincia Phillip

Career Coach


Education
:
Vincia is a UAlbany Alumna. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy & Management, from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs, and will be pursuing her Master’s in Higher Education.


Office Life
:
In her role, Vincia provides coaching and guidance in all aspects of career planning and development to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent alumni. She leads workshops, programs and orientations on career related topics; and supervises peer career advisors.

She is a member of the SUNY Career Development Organization, Capital Region Career Consortium, and the Women at Work Network. Vincia is passionate about equal access to education, helping students discover their potential, and teaching them applicable life skills.

Out of Office Life:
Vincia likes to spend time with family and friends. She enjoys volunteering for non-profit organizations, staying active, traveling, and keeping her collection of plants alive.

Jackie Bennett
Secretary

Education:
Jackie is pursuing her degree in Individualized Studies.

Office Life:
In her role, Jackie manages the day to day activities at the front desk, ensures friendly customer service and supervises our work study students.  Jackie is very passionate about organization and customer service and applies these strong skills while training and supervising.

Out of Office Life:
Jackie is an enthusiastic walker, reader, and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
