Essential Career Readiness Skills Program

Targeted at freshmen, The Essential Career Readiness Skills Program gives students the opportunity to acquire essential career readiness skills and connect with a mentor.

What is it?

Coordinated by the Office of Career and Professional Development, the program consists of:
  • Six, one-hour sessions, facilitated by a Student Affairs professional
  • Carefully assigned alumni mentor in your field of interest
  • A graduation celebration on campus at the end of the semester, where you will receive your completion certificate

Why should I enroll?

  • Make invaluable connections with a Student Affairs instructor and alumni mentor
  • Learn to think about what career path you might want to take
  • Learn Professional Etiquette & Developing Communication Skills
  • Learn how to Networking/Informational Interviewing
  • Learn the importance and benefits of teamwork
  • Learn how to write an effective resume
  • Learn how to prepare for a job interview

Who is eligible?

  • First year students who are engaged and committed to acquiring essential career readiness skills and forming relationships with professionals who will help them throughout college and beyond
