UAlbany Diamond Award Winners
Rose Dorsman, the director of Parking and Mass Transit Services, and Debbie Beza, a UAlbany alumna and distributor of ADvantage Promotions of Selkirk, N.Y., have won Diamond Awards from the Specialty Advertising Association of Greater New York (SAAGNY). The award recognizes winners for exceptional use of promotional products in marketing programs.
Dorsman won for the University at Albany’s Office of Parking and Mass Transit Services’ use of puzzle cubes that provided details about how to successfully park a vehicle on campus, or alternatively, ride the bus. “I wanted to make the experience of coming to the parking office a friendly, fun atmosphere while attempting to [present] important information that each student could walk away with,” Dorsman said. The cubes were either purple or gold, and each one was imprinted with a short message, a Web site and phone number, and the UAlbany logo. Students assembled them while waiting in line at the office.
“Our mission was to [supply] our students with a warm friendly atmosphere by letting them know how to reach us and get the answers they needed,” added Dorsman. “Mission accomplished!”
Beza, a promotional products distributor, took top honors for the most creative entry in the “Consumer Promotions Program Under $10” category.
The awards were presented at SAAGNY’s April meeting at the New York Botanical Garden, Bronx, N.Y.
