Biography:

Associate Professor of Chemistry Jayanti Pande's research interests include determining the molecular mechanisms by which genetic mutations and aging alter the proteins in the human eye and lead to eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Using a number of biophysical and biochemical methods, her team investigates how soluble proteins and other molecules form insoluble materials that impede normal function and lead to pathology.

Their goal is to providing findings that to lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies.
