 Genesis Cluster
The Tenenbaum Lab Bioinformatics Group consists of researchers from both Commercial and Academic backgrounds, with diverse experience including:
Computer Science, Molecular Biology, Nanotechnology and Commercial Software Engineering.
Our past projects include:
- Full life cycle software development
- Bioinformatic algorithm design and implementation
- Design and integration of extensive database systems
- Experimental data analyses, such as: Microarray analysis, database mining, genome wide attribute correlation and RNA motif discovery.
Our primary development tools are Java/J2EE and MySQL. However we pride ourselves on using the "right tool
for the right job" and have additionally developed comprehensive experience with HTML and Javascript web authoring,
Perl, PHP, C++, GWT, Shell scripting, etc.
Our workstations and servers run a variety of operating systems including CentOS, Ubuntu, OpenSuse, Mac OS X, and Windows XP.
Our private lab servers include a Dual Opteron Sunfire V20z, a Dual Xeon Dell and 2 Apple XServes, all running Linux variants. We also regularly utilize the following university maintained clusters:
- 'Genesis' Compute Server: Dual Intel Xeon CPU Headnode at 3.6GHz/2MB Cache, 4 GB RAM and 16 compute nodes each with Dual Xeon CPUs at 3.4GHz/2MB Cache and 4 GB RAM running under Fedora Core3 OS.
- 'Halhead' Compute Server: IBM p655 high-performance computing cluster consists of a 4-processor head node and eight 8-processor compute nodes (64-CPU), each with 16Gb of RAM. The cluster is run under the 64-bit SuSE Linux OS.
