About

Dr. Levy is an associate professor in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice. His research explores how educational programs can support civic engagement among youth and how such engagement can foster academic and life skills. He has written articles for a variety of publications, including Educational Researcher, Political Psychology, and Journal of Teacher Education. (Many of them can be found here.) Dr. Levy teaches courses on youth civic engagement, social studies education, and research methods, and he also hosts a podcast on civic education. Before graduate school, he taught middle school social studies, history, and English at public and private schools in California. Dr. Levy has won several major awards, including the Exemplary Dissertation Award from the National Council for the Social Studies in 2013 and the Outstanding College Educator Award from the New York State Council for the Social Studies in 2023. He was named an Andrew Carnegie Fellow in 2024. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, biking, playing music, and spending time with family and friends.
