MILNE TROPHIES AND PLAQUES TO BE GIVEN TO INTERESTED ALUMNI!

As many of you know, we have been in contact with the University at Albany regarding a permanent "home" for Milne School sports and scholarship trophies and/or plaques. Unfortunately, we have been unsuccessful in achieving this goal, and UAlbany is unable to continue to store them. As a result, we are going to have these items professionally photographed by Stephanie Snyder, UAlbany Alumni Association Communications & Marketing Strategist, with assistance by Steve Rider, '67, and an excellent list developed by Chuck Eson, '64. These photographs will be included on the UAlbany Milne School Digital Collections web page, where we have already posted the scanned versions of our yearbooks, newspapers, and other Milne publications, in addition to photographs of the murals and friezes located in the former Milne library, Milne 200 (now known as the Theodore H. Fossieck Milne Alumni Room). Soon after the photographs have been taken, the trophies and plaques will be available to Milne alumni who wish to own one or more. The condition of this memorabilia varies, so we will provide a list of available items and their condition. Stay tuned....

THE HISTORY OF HERE: A HOUSE, THE PINE HILLS NEIGHBORHOOD, AND THE CITY OF ALBANY

From Mary Frances Moran Collins, Milne Class of 1953:

"I have recently read a book that I think would be of great interest to many Milne Alums. It is The History of Here: A House, the Pine Hills Neighborhood, and the City of Albany. The author is Akum Norder, and it was published in 2018 by the State University of New York Press. The book absolutely fascinated me. As one who spent most Friday nights at the Madison Theater during my Milne years and at the homes of many of my classmates who lived in the Pine Hills, the book was a marvelous walk down nostalgia lane. The content was thoroughly researched and written in an entertaining and witty manner. I have sent copies of the book to several friends and we have spent hours on the telephone reminiscing."

Thanks, Mary Frances, for your suggestion! I, too, have read this book and enjoyed it very much.

SAD NEWS

Please note that I rely upon www.legacy.com and input from other alumni for this information, so if you become aware of someone who has passed away, please let me know. If a name is underlined, it represents a link to the obituary. Many obituaries are available free for a limited time only.

There were no Milne Alumni deaths during this past month of which I'm aware.

Thanks to all of you for your interest in Milne Alumni activities.
