MESSAGE FROM CHRISTOPHER LINDSAY, MEMBER OF THE CLASS OF '76

"I attended Milne 6th thru 11th grades from 1970–1975. I left Milne after my junior year in 1975 because of the uncertainty that I would get a senior year in 1976.

"Ralf Schauer, '76, and I have been friends since our third day of 6th grade at Milne. We went to Scotland together in September 2022 for three weeks. We had a wonderful time, even though Air Lingus sent our luggage elsewhere.

"Ralf and I have been taking trips together usually for a weekend and usually in the Fall for about ten years. Ralf retired last year after a 40-year career teaching at SCCC. So starting with our Scotland trip last last year, we are taking longer trips together.

"Ralf just returned from his fifth trip with Masons in Action building stove/furnance combinations in rural Central America to improve the safety of homes and the health of poor rural villagers.

"This year Ralf and I are traveling to Newport News, VA, in July to celebrate my 65th birthday and that of Deborah (Brothers) McHugh. Deb left Milne in 1975 after her junior year because of the uncertainty that she would get a senior year in 1976. Deb and I met on the fifth day of 6th grade and have been friends ever since. Deb and I will be celebrating our 65th birthdays together on her birthday, 7/8. My birthday is 7/10. Deb and I have often celebrated our milestone birthdays together.

"Following the birthday weekend, Ralf and I will be visiting Civil War and Revolutionary War sites in Virginia. We plan to conclude the trip with a three-day visit to the Gettysburg Battlefield in PA."

SMALL-WORLD STORY FROM JUDY (KOBLINZ) MADNICK, '61

On March 8th, as I was heading out the door of Summit at Mill Hill to go to the supermarket, I noticed an Amazon Prime package addressed to "Jacquelyn Gavryck" with the address of the assisted-living facility next door. The Jackie Gavryck I know was in the Class of '47, and we had worked together on a number of Milne Alumni projects over the years. So I called next door, knowing that there's a limit to how much info they could give me, and left my phone number. Later in the day, my phone rang...and it was "our" Jackie! She sounds wonderful, and we will be getting together soon.
