DIGITIZATION PROJECT UPDATE

Click here for the first group of Milne "stuff" to be digitized and uploaded! Please note that the website developers have added a link to the "Milne School Murals and Friezes." It's such fun to see Milne School documents online...and all documents are searchable. Be sure to "bookmark" the above link for future reference. The developers continue to "tweak" the site so that it's more user-friendly. In addition, I've asked them whether we can upload photos of the trophies (see below) and hope to learn more soon.

But remember...we're not finished yet! Donations are still needed so that we are able to complete this project. If we, as Milne School Alumni, don't ensure that our memorabilia is preserved...who will?

For further information, see https://www.albany.edu/~milne/Project.shtml. For an updated list of donations see https://www.albany.edu/~milne/DigitizationDonations.pdf.

MILNE TROPHIES

In mid-December, Steve Rider and Chuck Eson Chuck completed an inventory of the Milne trophies that are stored in UAlbany's Draper Hall basement. They found a few trophies and miscellaneous parts still in the large wooden box full of sawdust that had been searched through a couple of years ago. Chuck completed a spreadsheet of the inventory. There are definitely trophies that are missing, including the basketball trophies Coach Lewis couldn't find during an earlier search. In addition to the trophies, they found a couple of large wall plaques listing scholarship winners from between roughly 1913 and 1950.

Steve and Chuck have plans to continue this project and will keep us updated regarding their progress. Thanks, Chuck and Steve, for volunteering to handle this task!

GOOD NEWS!

Bob "Brud" Snyder, president, class of '58, sent the following: "On Oct. 20, I was inducted into the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame at the HOF's 28th annual induction dinner at Drumlins Country Club...450 attended; quite an evening (dinner is televised many times during the year on Time Warner)...I was one of 6 inducted and am only the 4th career print journalist to be inducted, 1st in 18 years...I was a sports writer/columnist for the Syracuse Herald-Journal/Herald American and Post-Standard for 40 years, co-hosted a basketball post-game TV show for 17 years, did basketball radio color commentary for 3 years and authored 2 books...I retired in 2006." Thanks, Brud, for the very interesting bio, and congratulations on your recent honor!

Marc Aronson, '74/'75: "There has been quite a bit of joyful news in my life over the past 18 months: My daughter, Rachel Aronson, married Ryan Boland on July 13, 2013. My son, Jason, married Stephanie Bilinski on Nov. 1st, 2014. Our first granddaughter, Ava Ruth Boland, was born on Nov. 23rd at 10:10 a.m. in Santa Rosa, CA: 6 pounds, 13 ounces.

"I love biking--I bike to work most days and typically bike 50-60 miles/week. Even though we can't use it until Ava is 1 year old, I've already purchased a Burley Bee bike trailer so I can take her out for bike rides right away! I've actually accumulated a collection of bikes over the years--5 regular bikes + 1 tandem--so that whenever the 'kids' come over we can go for bike rides. "I am currently SVP of engineering at Zuora--you'll find me listed here (scroll down and click on my photo for my bio)."

SAD NEWS

Please note that I rely upon the Albany Times Union and input from other alumni for this information, so if you become aware of someone who has passed away, please let me know. If a name is underlined, it represents a link to the obituary. Many obituaries are available free for a limited time only.

Faith MEYER Sandles, '59, passed away on December 26, 2014. Faith was very helpful in the development of the Milne Alumni website. She and I met with the former UAlbany Archivist, Geoff Williams, to review the Milne collection, copy graduation programs, and examine yearbooks and other materials that were useful in developing the list of Milne alumni that appears on our website. Faith and I also met with two other UAlbany representatives to discuss a number of Milne Alumni interests and concerns, especially those associated with the relationship between Milne alumni and the University. Faith was a past Class Contact for the Class of '59 and, as such, ensured that I always had an accurate list of Class of '59 members. She was always available to provide suggestions and assistance with Milne Alumni projects..

Vera Blumberg FILSON, mother of Daniel FILSON, '75, passed away on Friday, January 9th.

Thanks to all of you for your interest in Milne Alumni activities.
