      SCOPE:

            This set reproduces the dispatches addressed to the Department of State by the United States diplomatic representatives in Russia between September 20, 1808 and August 14, 1906. These letters and reports document Russian political and economic conditions and relations between the United States and Russia, including Russian claims to the Northwestern coast of America, records of Theodore Roosevelt's mediation of the Russo-Japanese War, and the Russian Revolution of 1905.

            Chronological.

      FINDING AIDS:

            The first reel includes a description of the

papers; and author index; and a register, arranged chronologically, with brief annotations of the items reproduced.
