Book Donations Committee of ALC/ASA

The Book Donations Committee meets twice a year at the Spring and Fall meetings of the Africana Librarians Council. The committee works with ASA to advertise, solicit applications, and select proposals for the ASA funded Gretchen Walsh Book Donation Awards.

The Africana Librarians Council (ALC) was founded in 1957 as part of the African Studies Association (ASA) under the name Archives/Libraries Committee. The ALC continues today as an ASA coordinate organization. Members of ASA whether they are librarians, archivists or documentalists, all those interested in supporting knowledge and scholarship about Africa, or scholars interested in the preservation of or access to Africana research, may join the ALC.
