Alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations supported the University at Albany with $7,757,579 in new philanthropic commitments during 2008-2009. UAlbany is deeply grateful to the many donors whose generosity helps to ensure that scholarships, endowed faculty positions, academic departments, and other worthy University initiatives receive the support they need and deserve.

Major Highlights

Through 150 scholarship funds, The University at Albany Foundation provided $472,279 in scholarship aid to more than 370 students. Another $100,000 from 87 prize and award funds supported students, faculty and staff.

In addition, a total of $2.2 million from The Foundation provided the means to fund faculty training and recruitment, program supplies, workshops, lectures, research, student advancement, athletics and other initiatives that promote scholarly endeavors. Of the 350 endowed funds established through The Foundation, 51 are funded at the $100,000+ level.

Donors contributed more than $3 million in support for the new School of Business building, bringing the fundraising campaign to 31 percent of the total five-year goal of $9.75 million. Slated for completion in the fall of 2013, this state-of-the-art facility will serve as a center for learning, networking and innovation for future and current business professionals throughout the Capital Region and New York State. The new building is a public-private partnership, with $54 million being provided by New York State.

The University at Albany's endowment, as of June 30, 2009, was $24,738,638, reflecting growth of 150 per cent over the last ten years.
