Stephen Lang, award-winning stage and film actor, writer, and producer will receive the 2018 Empire State Archives and History Award from the New York State Archives Partnership Trust.

The public is invited to hear Lang speak about his career as an actor and history enthusiast, interviewed by friend and nationally prominent Lincoln scholar Harold Holzer. To purchase tickets -- $25 ($15 for veterans and students) -- visit www.nysarchivestrust.org or call (518) 486-9349.

The event will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, October 25, at Chancellors Hall, New York State Education Building.

Lang is known for iconic roles in Gettysburg, Gods and Generals, Tombstone and Avatar and has earned critical acclaim for his Medal of Honor themed solo play and film, Beyond Glory, as well as his chamber play on the Lost Battalion of World War I, His Dark Land. Lang’s many acting credits include the role of the paraplegic Waldo on AMC’s hit series, Into the Badlands and a Tony nomination for Best Actor in The Speed of Darkness on Broadway.

Lang's other films include Last Exit to Brooklyn, Death of a Salesman, Public Enemies and Don't Breathe. He stars in Peter Jackson’s upcoming epic adventure film Mortal Engines, which Universal Pictures will open worldwide in December, and is currently filming all four Avatar sequels for director James Cameron.
