The Graduate School is charged with preparing professionals and scholars to work effectively in an increasingly diverse and globalized world. It meets this commitment through a wide range of initiatives that recognize and support cultural diversity and inclusion. Working closely with departmental faculty, the office recruits a diverse and talented cohort of graduate students, while developing programs to support academic success.
Assistantship and fellowship funding, which includes tuition support, is available on a competitive and merit basis. UAlbany also offers the competitive, merit-based Carson Carr Graduate Diversity Fellowship Program to graduate students who will contribute to the diversity of the student body. The award is named for Dr. Carson Carr, former director of UAlbany’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), in recognition of his stellar achievements in support of the recruitment, retention and graduation of underrepresented students.
The Graduate Opportunity Program provides full tuition scholarships to qualifying EOP, HEOP (Higher Education Opportunity Program), and SEEK (Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge) program graduates.
