The Accounting Department prides itself on a tradition of excellence which begins with the education they provide students -as attested to by the high pass rates on the CPA exam, award-wining programs, and the high placement rates of graduates.The BS and MS degree Programs in Accounting offered by the University are among the few in the United States to have been accredited in accounting by AACSB International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). This tradition continues with our faculty, who are active researchers and practitioners, and who bring this research and experience into their classrooms in order to provide an enriching experience for their students.

The two-year Masters of Science in Accounting (MS-A) program prepares individuals with no prior background in accounting or business to become professional accountants in a wide variety of settings, including public accounting, government, industry and not-for-profit environments.Students from diverse backgrounds enroll in this program. Recent classes have included students with degrees ranging from art to zoology. This program gives students the opportunity to become familiar with the complex, challenging and competitive world of business and accounting. Admission consideration requires students to have an undergraduate degree and completion of a minimum of three credits (one course) in each of the following areas: Financial Accounting, Computer Science, Statistics, and Economics.
The one-year M.S. in Professional Accountancy program is designed to help prepare students for the complex, challenging and competitive world of business and accounting. This program enables students to continue their accounting studies in a graduate format as it builds on students' undergraduate education and leads to a greater degree of accounting sophistication. Admission consideration requires students to have an undergraduate degree in Accounting, or the equivalent.
The M.S. in Forensic Accounting program focuses upon the integration of accounting, auditing, legal and investigative skills in the prevention, detection and investigation of financial fraud as well as in dispute resolution. The one-year program is designed to prepare students for the complex and challenging world of business and accounting fraud, and meets the 150- semester credit hour education requirement for CPA licensure in New York State. Admission consideration requires students to have an undergraduate degree in Accounting, or the equivalent.
