Department of Health and Sustainability

Sylvia Ayoub is a senior and proud Queens, NY native majoring in Human Biology and minoring in Psychology. Sylvia began working in the Student Association as a junior as the inaugural Associate Director of Health and Sustainability and had been promoted to the Director position. As the Health and Sustainability department is fairly new in the Student Association, Sylvia hopes to bring initiatives into the undergraduate population that makes for a greener, healthier campus.

Outside of the Student Association, Sylvia is extremely involved in Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity. A member since her 2nd semester freshmen year, she served as the Vice President of Recruitment on the executive board for the 2017 calendar year. She now serves as the Webmaster Chair of the fraternity and co-creator of the NY Delta Chapter's website. Aside from her Greek organization, Sylvia is an undergraduate research assistant of Dr. Drew Anderson's Weight and Eating Disorder Research Laboratory where she aids graduate students in running participants through in lab manipulation studies. Finally, Sylvia has been involved in the Center for Leadership and Service as one of the inaugural ambassadors from the Common Purpose's Global Leader Experience. She has also just been recently accepted into Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society for her leadership involvement on campus.

As the Director of Health and Sustainability, Sylvia's vision is to create a staple for the department to ensure its longevity. In conjunction with the SUNY Chancellor's strategic plan focusing on sustainability initiatives, Sylvia hopes to highlight the University at Albany as a role model for the future generations of UAlbany students in addition to the other 63 SUNY campuses.

Post graduation, Sylvia hopes to pursue a career in medicine as an osteopathic physician. She will be applying to a master's program for the fall of 2019. She also hopes to attain an MBA so that she may able to one day work on the board of directors of a hospital.
