World of Writing
The World of Writing is a program designed to welcome new writers, poets, and storytellers into the lively and diverse University at Albany writing community. Host campus for the New York State Writers Institute, UAlbany is also home to a number of active writing groups, clubs, publications and events, and World of Writing freshmen will be introduced to faculty and peers who are passionate about writing and want to share that passion in a community of fellow writers.

As a member of an L-LC, you will have a built-in community of friends and colleagues right from the start by living in the same hall and taking classes together!
Friends: Study and socialize with fellow L-LC members. Tackle those first-year courses with your friends by forming study groups where you live!
World Ambassadors: "Learn the ropes" from peers selected from last year’s most engaged L-LC students. If you remain an engaged member of your L-LC througout your freshman year, you could be a World Ambassador your sophomore year too!
Community Assistant: Meet weekly with an upper-class/graduate student to plan or attend social, academic, and community service events.
Lead Faculty Mentor: Get to know a member of the faculty outside of the traditional classroom setting! Attend weekly meals with your lead faculty members!
World of Writing Lead Faculty: Professors Jil Hanifan and Paul Grondahl
Weekly L-LC Dinner: Mondays 5:35 - 6:30 PM
Academic Advisor: Cassandra Andrusz-Ho Ching
World Representatives: Leadership opportunities abound in the L-LCs! Earn a spot as your World's Representative by being a leader in your L-LC! World Representatives are elected by the L-LC in October to represent the group at meetings throughout the academic year.
Eligibility: The World of Writing is open to all incoming freshmen and will explore ways to encourage creative invention, disciplined creation, positive collaborations, and visionary projects -- all essential qualities for any career path! This L-LC is a particularly good choice for freshmen interested in fields requiring flexible and creative thinking, media literacy, and expertise in writing and communication.
