Development and validation of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)-based assays/methods have been a part of research activities within the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory. Outcomes of such activities, some were done in collaboration with colleagues at CDC and the Department of Psychology at the University at Albany have led to many articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals in the areas mainly including (1) analytical accuracy and precision assessment of FDA-approved methods and Laboratory-Developed Tests for patient testing, (2) clinical laboratory quality performance evaluation via accuracy-based proficiency testing or external quality assessment, (3) identification of quality issues in analytical & post-analytical phases, (4) salivary hormone tests using LC-MS/MS methods and (5) addictive behaviors/alcohol abuse associated psychological research, where noninvasive detection of hormones is needed. My past research experience and interests included protein purification and characterization, gene mutation identification, production of mutant proteins via site-directed mutagenesis, and analysis of the impact of a gene mutation on the protein expression levels, structure, stability and functional properties.
