Community Partners & Employers

The School of Public Health Office of Internships & Career Services encourages our community partners and employers to engage, hire and interact with our students in a variety of ways:

POST A JOB: Employers can recruit our students for full-time/part-time/temporary jobs and fellowships or share funding and professional development opportunities through our SPH weekly listserv. A brief description of your organization, job duties/responsibilities, desired qualifications, application information, and hourly rate/salary range should be included. Email your opportunity to

HOST AN SPH INTERN: Each semester, we request internship project proposals from employers and community partners looking to connect with our SPH students, since internship completion is one of the components of our MPH and MS program requirements. Through our SPH Internship Program, students work alongside mentors who orient them to the organization, involve them in a diverse range of organizational activities, arrange for them to attend internal and external meetings, introduce them to colleagues and leadership teams within the organization, and oversee the student’s internship project and required deliverables. Mentors also serve as a resource by providing guidance, feedback and direction for the student during their internship project.

INFORMATION SESSIONS, CAREER PANELS & SPECIAL EVENTS: Being able to network with students and other public health professionals is something we value and encourage as part of the career development process. It is also an excellent way to promote your organization and meet prospective candidates. If you are interested in conducting an employer information session, serving on a career panel, assisting with resume critiques/ mock interviews or if you have a topic of your own, we would love to hear from you! GET INVOLVED WITH THE SPH COMMUNITY: The Division of Public Health Practice aims to link academia and the practice of public health in organizations and communities throughout the Capital Region to support and promote public health efforts. The Division facilitates community engagement by connecting faculty and students to opportunities for community-engaged research, volunteering, and service/experiential-learning.
