Rockefeller Alumnus Michael Christakis Named Interim VP for Student Success

Rockefeller College double alumnus and Public Service Professor, Michael N. Christakis, MPP '01, PhD '05 has been named Interim Vice President for Student Success at the University at Albany. The announcement follows the retirement of Christine Bouchard.

Christine Bouchard leaves the University at Albany after more than 30 years of service. She has held her most recent position, Vice President for Student Success, since 2007 after serving as Associate Vice President for six years. During her tenure at the University, she has also served as Assistant Registrar, Assistant Director of Admissions, Director of Community Relations and Assistant and Associate Vice President for Student Affairs.

Michael Christakis has served in a number of student affairs-related positions at the University since 1999. His most recent post was that of Associate Vice President for Student Success. During his tenure, Michael has made a tremendous impact on UAlbany student life, and will continue to do so as Interim Vice President.

It is anticipated that a national search to permanently fill the position will begin in the spring with the next leader in place by December 2015.
