Anne Hildreth Honored with Inaugural Hope-Hildreth Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Academic Advising

ALBANY, N.Y. – Since 1990, Anne Hildreth has worked as an integral member of the University at Albany and Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy. Serving as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education, Anne announced that she will be retiring from the University at the end of the summer. To reflect her decades long commitment, the University named Anne the inaugural recipient of the Hope-Hildreth Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Academic Advising, named in her honor and that of her colleague Monica Hope.

The award recognizes faculty and professional advisors who are transitioning into retirement after years of dedication to, and achievement in, advising the University’s undergraduate students. The selection process includes a recommendation by the review committee for the Provost’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Academic Advising -- a group of campus members who are each appointed by the Provost. The recommendations are then advanced for the Provost’s consideration.

“Anne’s recommendation was quite strong, and reflected the spirit of this award – continued commitment providing excellent advisement, support, dedication, and care to our undergraduate students,” said UAlbany Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs James R. Stellar.

“Anne works tirelessly to ensure that each student is guided towards courses and activities that provide valuable, rewarding experiences, and works with students to ensure on-time graduation,” said Rockefeller College Dean R. Karl Rethemeyer. “Professor Hildreth has dedicated much of her professional life to working on behalf of the University and most importantly its students. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by the students, faculty, and staff of the College. We wish her well in the next chapter of her life.”

“I appreciate the recognition and retiring is certainly bittersweet,” said Anne at Rockefeller’s Undergraduate Recognition Ceremony on May 19th. “I have to thank Zakhar Berkovich (director of undergraduate student services) and Joan Marso (contact office assistant). I absolutely could not do the work that I do without their very able assistance.”

UAlbany held a ceremony in University Hall on May 4th to honor Anne and give out both the Hope-Hildreth Award and the Provost’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Academic Advising.
