Roads to AmeriCorps and Rockefeller College Converged into One Sure Path for New Grad
After graduating from New York University with a degree in economics in 2011, Pou Mok found himself with little professional experience and lacking a life's direction.
The first bit of good fortune for Pou, who immigrated to Staten Island from China when he was nine years old, was when he found out about, and eventually joined, AmeriCorps VISTA, the national community service program. The second blessing was getting assigned by the program to Albany. Read More.

International Initiative Aims to Help Countries Halt Spread of WMDs
Associate Professor Bryan R. Early sees the development of proactive trade control policies as the key to halting the spread of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs). Early and his team at the Project on International Security, Commerce & Economic Statecraft (PISCES) are collaborating to provide strategic trade control assistance to countries in the Western Balkans and Central Asia, as well as Taiwan, Ukraine, and Sri Lanka. Laura V. Gonzalez-Murphy, Ph.D. '09 Appointed Director of the NYS Office for New Americans
Rockefeller College alumna Dr. Laura Valeria González-Murphy (Ph.D. '09) has been appointed director of the New York State Office for New Americans (ONA). In this capacity, Dr. González-Murphy oversees the operation of ONA's 26 Opportunity Centers across New York State. In its first three years of operation, ONA - established by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo in order to assist newcomers to New York State - has served approximately 80,000 individuals. Read more.
