Dr. Disney’s research focuses on improving the well-being of refugees resettled in the U.S. and especially the cultural relevance and effectiveness of mental health services for refugees and immigrants. Her recent research focuses on how refugee-serving mental health providers are adapting their practices to telemental health following the COVID-19 pandemic. She is a certified clinical trauma specialist and incorporates a trauma-focused lens in her research and teaching.
