Senior Financial Literacy Training and Education Initiative

This project increases financial literacy and resource enhancement among older adults and decreases financial fraud and abuse for consumers and family members. The project has helped to advance the integration of education, service, and research by disseminating a Financial Literacy Resource Manual to seniors and providers; developing fraud and abuse resources and training (online and in-person) for social workers, bank professionals, legal professionals and others; and creating a cross-generational, comprehensive toolkit that targets a range of literacy levels and reflects best practice education principles. Participants gain an understanding of financial literacy, recognize risk factors for exploitation, make more informed judgments, take effective actions regarding the current and future use, and management of money. A comprehensive list of resources is available at the website.
