Consider one of our spaces for your special event

UAlbany Performing Arts Center Facilities

Many of the spaces in the UAlbany Performing Arts Center (PAC) are available to rent for a modest fee. If you're an off-campus user, you will need to complete a facilities application, a revocable permit application and meet insurance requirements through the University at Albany Risk Management Office before a rental can be approved. All UAlbany PAC users are required to agree to and abide by the terms and stipulations of our current usage policy.

Rental rates for the spaces in the UAlbany PAC vary according to the space and the user. Please refer to the Rental Rate listing for specific fees and user categories. Fees are subject to change without notice.

You can request space reservations through the University at Albany Event Management System.

Available Spaces
Uptown

Main Theatre

The Main Theatre is the largest theater space on the Uptown Campus.

  • The proscenium stage measures 48' wide and 40' deep including the apron's orchestra elevator.
  • The auditorium seats just under 460 people in a very comfortable continental-style seating.
  • The stage is extremely well-equipped with a series of 4'x 4' traps and a 45 lineset counterweight system.

 

Recital Hall

The Recital Hall, known for its excellent acoustics, is used primarily for Music Program concerts but is also a popular location for lectures, conferences and ceremonies.

  • The Recital Hall seats 228 people, 190 on the orchestra level and 38 in the nine circular boxes on the second level of the auditorium.
  • The stage measures 21' wide and 25' deep.
  • A semi-permanent acoustical shell is located upstage.

Arena Theatre

The Arena Theatre is used primarily for Theatre performances and acting classes.

  • The stage diameter is 24'
  • The auditorium seats 196.

 

Studio Theatre

A favorite space for actor/audience interaction, the Studio Theatre is often utilized by the Theatre Program for both productions and classes.

  • The theatre seats 153 people.
  • The stage measures 29' wide and 25' deep including the 6' apron.
  • A hemp flying system is located on a gallery stage left.

 

Lab Theatre

  • The Lab Theatre is a 50' square "black box" theater.
  • The Lab can seat up to 200 audience members in any seating configuration.
Downtown

Page Hall

Page Hall is a classic old proscenium theater located on the downtown campus of the University at Albany, at 135 Western Avenue. Page Hall's excellent location, combined with its large seating capacity make it a favorite site for community events and performances. The film series of the New York State Writer's Institute is presented primarily at Page Hall.

  • The auditorium has a total capacity of 830, with 439 of those seats located on the orchestra level and 391 on the balcony level.
  • The stage area is 33' wide and 22' deep, including a very large (12' deep) semi-circular apron.
Additional Spaces

Futterer Lounge

The Futterer Lounge is named for Agnes E. Futterer, recognized as the founder of the Theatre program at the University. It is a popular site for receptions after performing arts events.

  • The lounge measures 30' x 80'
  • It is located on the second floor of the PAC and its west wall is fully windowed, providing an excellent view of the campus.
  • The entrances for the Recital Hall and the Lab Theatre are located directly off of the Futterer Lounge.

Dance Studio

The Dance Studio (PAC B-53) is located in the basement just off of the Main Stage. It is used primarily by the Theatre Program for acting classes and rehearsals for their productions. The floor of the Rehearsal Room is "sprung" and is therefore suitable for dance rehearsal and instruction as well.

The Band Rehearsal Room (PAC B-28) is located in the basement. It us used primarily by the Music Program for rehearsals by their four large ensembles.

The Choral Rehearsal Room (PAC B-78) is located in the basement. It is used primarily by the Music Program for classes and rehearsal by the Program's two choral groups.

Personnel Charges

The Performing Arts Center office reserves the right to decide how much staffing is necessary for an event. Positions are filled with a combination of professional and student labor.

Theatre Supervisor: $25/hr
Stage Supervisor: $18/hr
House Manager: $18/hr
Ushers: $18/hr

There is a standard usage policy that must be followed by ALL who rent our facilities. This policy constitutes part of the rental agreement.

 

Rental Checklists
Off-Campus User
  • Contact the Performing Arts Center (PAC) by calling 518-442-3995 to inquire if dates are available and to provide detailed information about your event.
  • After reviewing the PAC Usage Policy that is sent to you, please also review the event information, sign the registration form and return one copy with your non-refundable $75 registration fee to “Performing Arts Center; PAC-266; University at Albany; Albany, NY 12222.”  Make check payable to “University at Albany.” If the information on the registration form is incorrect, please call 518-442-3995 to request changes.  Registration fee is non-refundable, but will be deducted from your final bill.  Every event by an off-campus sponsor must be approved by the Office of the Controller.
  • The Office of the Controller should notify you and the PAC Office as to whether or not your event has been approved. If you receive approval, you may proceed with advertising your event.
  • Approximately two weeks prior to your event, the PAC's Operations Director will contact you to review your event information and finalize the details of your event. PAC facilities, staff and equipment will be assigned to your event as discussed
  • On the date of your event, the PAC staff will meet you at the designated arrival time and provide you with the services discussed.
  • Upon conclusion of your event, we ask that you remove all event materials and equipment from the facility.
  • PAC event staff will report on your event to the administrative office to assist in the creation of your final invoice.  Final invoice will be mailed to you within three business days.  Please make a check payable to “University at Albany” and send your final payment, along with the lower portion of the invoice to “University at Albany Lockbox; P.O. Box 10189; Albany, NY 12201-0189” using the supplied envelope.
On-Campus User (non-student)
  • Contact the Performing Arts Center (PAC) by calling 518-442-3995 to inquire if dates are available and to provide detailed information about your event.  PAC will send you a Facility Registration and Cost Estimate form for your review.
  • After reviewing the PAC Usage Policy, please review the event information, sign the registration form and return one copy to “Performing Arts Center; PAC-266; University at Albany; Albany, NY 12222.”  If the information on the registration form is incorrect, please call 518-442-3995 to request changes.  After you send your registration paperwork, you may proceed with advertising your event.
  • Approximately two weeks prior to your event, the PAC's Operations Director will contact you to review your event information and finalize the details of your event. PAC facilities, staff and equipment will be assigned to your event as discussed.
  • On the date of your event, the PAC staff will meet you at the designated arrival time and provide you with the services discussed.
  • Upon conclusion of your event, we ask that you remove all event materials and equipment from the facility.
  • PAC event staff will report on your event to the administrative office to assist in the creation of your final invoice.  Final invoice will be mailed to you within three business days.  Please make a check payable to “University at Albany” and send your final payment, along with the lower portion of the invoice to “University at Albany Lockbox; P.O. Box 10189; Albany, NY 12201-0189” using the supplied envelope.
On-Campus User (student)
  • Student groups are assigned two reservation contacts that may request space through virtual EMS.
  • Upon approval of the Virtual EMS request, the PAC Office will complete the registration process and send out an Estimate of Cost for approval. will be sent to the Office of the SA Comptroller for payment.
  • After reviewing both the PAC Usage Policy and the Estimate of Cost, sign the latter document and return one copy. If the information is incorrect, please call 518-442-3995 to request changes.  After you send your signed paperwork, you may proceed with advertising your event.
  • Approximately two weeks prior to your event, the PAC's Operations Director will contact you to review your event information and finalize the details of your event. PAC facilities, staff and equipment will be assigned to your event as discussed.
  • On the date of your event, the PAC staff will meet you at the designated arrival time and provide you with the services discussed.
  • Upon conclusion of your event, we ask that you remove all event materials and equipment from the facility.
     
  • PAC event staff will report on your event to the administrative office to assist in the creation of your final invoice.  Final invoice will be mailed to the student group contact within three business days.
