Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor Society (XAE)

Beta Phi Chapter at the University at Albany

What is Chi Alpha Epsilon?

The Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor Society (XAE) was founded in 1989 at West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania. This Greek letter honor society was created by Dr. Elbert Saddler to:

  • Acknowledge the continuing successes of students in academic development programs
  • Recognize that students who share similar experiences can serve as role models for others
  • Promote continued high academic standards
  • Foster communication and networking between programs, students and alumni
  • Support funding for academic development programs

Directors of academic development programs from across the country hailed the honor society’s formation.

The National Association for Developmental Education (NADE) has officially endorsed Chi Alpha Epsilon as an honor society for developmental education students. The Council for Opportunity in Education also encourages participation.
