A University Libraries senior assistant librarian and an associate professor of French studies recently collaborated to obtain a small grant to acquire texts on Quebec.

Jesus Alonso-Regalado of the University Libraries and Associate Professor of French Studies Eloise Briere of the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures have obtained a $500 matching grant from the government of Quebec to help acquire additional Quebec texts for the library.

"The matching funds will be used to purchase important texts lacking in the collection and ones that have been published over the last three or four years, all of them related to literature, language, and culture in Quebec," said Alonso-Regalado. "Such an addition to the collection will enable those who focus on Quebec in their study, teaching, and research to have access to books that are now either unavailable, or that must be obtained through interlibrary loan, which although effective - has well-known inconveniences."

The grant will enable the University at Albany-SUNY to continue to develop its collection in ways that are commensurate with a university that is engaged in graduate teaching and research.
