Sharon DeWitte is a biological anthropologist specializing in human osteology, paleodemography, and paleoepidemiology. She is particularly interested in epidemic diseases in past human populations and how individuals vary in their risk of death during such epidemics. DeWitte is currently investigating the mortality patterns of the 14th century Black Death in Europe using large cemetery samples from England.
