Marius Beceanu’s research is about nonlinear partial differential equations. He is interested in the long-term behavior of large solutions, solutions with special behaviors (solitons and solitary waves, breathers), energy-supercritical equations, and connections with Harmonic Analysis.

Marius was granted a PhD by the University of Chicago, after also spending a year at Caltech, and an undergraduate degree from Princeton. He has held postdoctoral positions at Rutgers, the Institute for Advanced Study, and Berkeley, among other places.

While in high school, he participated in the International Mathematical Olympiad in three different years, earning one medal of each kind --- bronze, silver, and gold.
