Biography:

Andi Lyons is Professor of Theatrical Design and Technology, and the Resident Lighting Designer for the University at Albany's Theatre Program. She has designed more than 300 productions on campus and professionally, and also served as the Department’s Technical Director and Production Supervisor from 1982-1992. In addition, she is the former Theatre Department Chair and Director of the Theatre Program.

Professor Lyons teaches courses in Lighting Design, Lighting Technology, Scenic Technology, Technical Design, Theatrical Drafting, and Stage Management. She is the recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in both academic service and teaching, as well as the University at Albany President’s Awards for Excellence in both teaching and academic service.

Andi is an active member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT), the association for design, production, and technology professionals in the performing arts and entertainment industry. In 2015, Andi received the Joel E. Rubin Founder’s Award for decades of effort aimed at making USITT more welcoming to all people. She is also a proud Fellow of USITT, and a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829, IATSE.
