The University is welcoming students back to campus this week for the start of the Fall 2022 semester, including more than 5,200 new Great Danes.

A new documentary starring Star Trek’s William Shatner is asking the question: “Are we Alone?” And two UAlbany physicists are right in the middle of the search for answers. “A Tear in the Sky,” directed by Caroline Cory, follows a team of researchers using state-of-the-art technologies to study on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs).

A date with a football powerhouse, renewed battles with former rivals and a host of on-campus action is all in store for the Great Danes this semester as the UAlbany fall sports season gets underway.

An anthropology professor’s research on conflict and the political collapse of Mayapan, the ancient capital city of the Maya on the Yucatán Peninsula, sheds light on link between climate and societal stability.

Approximately 2,700 first-year students, from more than 26,000 applicants, are joining the Class of 2026. In addition, approximately 1,000 transfer students and 1,520 new graduate students are joining the campus community this fall.

Even when classes are not in session, students are finding ways to gain valuable experience through a variety of summer internships, research, volunteer, and other applied learning opportunities.
