Recognition Ceremony

On Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 5:30 p.m., the Department of Music & Theatre joined in the Arts & Humanities Recognition Ceremony hosted by the College of Arts & Sciences. The ceremony took place in the Campus Center Ballroom, where each graduate was individually recognized for his/her achievement.

Graduates marched from the Fireside Lounge into the Ballroom, led by Professor Nancy Newman (Music & Theatre Department Chair) and Associate Professor Karla Kash (Theatre Program Director). Associate Dean Susanna Fessler welcomed the graduates, their families and friends. Dr. Fessler was also joined onstage by faculty members from the Departments of Art and Art History; East Asian Studies; History, Documentary Studies and Religious Studies; Languages, Literatures & Cultures; and Philosophy.

A music presentation followed as Kaeli Groenert joined graduating seniors Savannah Gordon, Ki Hoon (Tyler) Kim, Ugochi Nriaka, and Shichu (Daniel) Xie as they sang The Road Home by Stephen Paulus. This was a powerful performance--great job all! Professor Newman announced the graduates' names as they were presented with their certificates by Professor Kash.

Dr. Newman had recognized this year's recipients of the Music Department's awards and scholarships at a special student awards reception held earlier in May.

At the following day's Undergraduate Ceremony, graduating senior Ugochi Nriaka performed a stirring rendition of the National Anthem.
