Recognition Ceremony

On Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., the Department of Music & Theatre joined in the Arts & Humanities Recognition Ceremony hosted by the College of Arts & Sciences. The ceremony took place in the Athletic Complex, where each graduate was individually recognized for his/her achievement.

Graduates marched from Casey Stadium into the Physical Education Building, led by Professor Nancy Newman (Music & Theatre Department Chair) and Professor Andi Lyons (Theatre Program Director). Associate Dean Susanna Fessler welcomed the graduates, their families and friends. Dr. Fessler was joined onstage by faculty members from the Departments of Art and Art History; East Asian Studies; English; History; Languages, Literatures & Cultures; and Philosophy.

A Music presentation followed as soprano and graduating senior Noni Murphy sang Out Here on My Own by Michael Gore (music) and Lesley Gore (lyrics). Powerful performance--great job Noni! Professor Lyons announced the graduates' names as they were presented with their certificates by Professor Newman.

Dr. Newman had recognized this year's recipients of the Music Department's awards and scholarships at a special student awards reception held earlier in May.
