About Us

History

The Liberty Partnerships Rising Stars Program was established at the University at Albany, SUNY in 1992. The LPRSP has grown drastically over the past two decades and presently serves three hundred youth in grades 6-12 attending schools within the Albany City School District. LPRSP’s purpose is to encourage youth in grades 6-12 to achieve academic and personal excellence by promoting strong relationships, inspiring positive self-esteem, and empowering them to become tomorrow’s leaders. The program has established partnerships with community-based organizations (CBO’s), local businesses, and the City School District of Albany (CSDA) to enhance students’ access to community resources, develop professional networks, and foster leadership and civic engagement. To accomplish this goal, LPRSP staff, student interns, and volunteers provide case management, academic enrichment, mentoring, workforce development, leadership development, and college preparation services year round.
