LACS PhD students Ruth Murcia and Eric Macias

Ruth Murcia, incoming Latin American, Caribbean, and Latina/o Studies Department (LACS) PhD student, is one of the recipients of the Presidential Doctoral Fellowship for Research Training in Health Disparities. The Fellowship is for four years starting with the 2021-2022 academic year. As a PhD student, Ruth plans to focus her research on domestic workers in New York State. LACS congratulates Ruth on this notable achievement!

Eric Macias, a PhD Candidate in LACS Department at the University at Albany, received honorable mention from the Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship, a prestigious and highly competitive fellowship that recognizes students who “show promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers, and are well prepared to use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.” LACS congratulates Eric on receiving this honor!
