About

Dr. Shanise Kent began serving as Assistant Dean in September 2017. Her efforts focus on providing support, oversight, and advocacy for graduate programs, faculty, and students, as well as, increasing the quality, diversity, funding, and integrity of graduate education. Prior to joining the Graduate School, Dr. Kent was the Director of Diversity Programs and Initiatives in the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University (BU). During her ten years at BU, she served as Co-Principal Investigator and Campus Director of the National Science Foundation funded Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) and LSAMP Bridge to the Doctorate programs, Principal Investigator of the New York State Education Department funded Science & Technology Entry Program, and Associate Director of the U.S. Department of Education funded Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Master of Business Administration, and Juris Doctor (law degree) from the University at Buffalo.
