The BBL Construction Services Scholarship

Rebecca Conklin

Senior Rebecca Conklin is looking forward to completing her final year and graduating from UAlbany. Her degree has been made possible with help from The BBL Construction Services Scholarship she received. She hopes to continue her studies in graduate school where she will work toward a Ph.D. in clinical psychology.

Her experiences here helped push her toward an advanced degree. Rebecca cites Robert Rosellini, the Psychology Department’s Distinguished Teaching Professor, as her most memorable professor. Dr. Rosellini provided her the opportunity to work with a conditioning therapy dog in class and Rebecca “always found the class material interesting.” She hopes to work with children who have mood and behavior disorders after completing her doctorate.

Rebecca remembers choosing to attend UAlbany because she loved what she calls the “big school atmosphere.” The Binghampton, NY native also appreciates that the campus is “close, but not too close, to home.” During her time here she found it easy to become involved and has carved out several niches for herself. She is a member of Middle Earth, UAlbany’s student-run peer counseling program, and also works in the University’s Athletics Department on the event staff team. In addition, she is active in Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, and the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society.

Rebecca likes to take the occasional break from her busy student life to enjoy the calming presence of the University’s main fountain, her favorite place on campus. Peaceful spots like this as well as taking advantage of the varied ways to get involved as a student, have certainly cut the “big school atmosphere” down to size.
