What We Do

OCFR provides the following services to the University community:

Clearinghouse

Our office advises you on the most effective approaches and strategies for foundation engagement, and assists you, directly or indirectly, with your grant proposals. We are a member of the University’s Corporate Engagement Council

RFP Alerts and Additional Funding Opportunities

We distribute RFP announcements and other applicable foundation information to the appropriate departments and provide project support as needed. We can also review new opportunities that you identify.

Cultivate and Solicit Collaborators

We will work with you to draft letters of inquiry (LOI) to cultivate and solicit foundations funding. OCFR will provide project management support once a funder is interested in program or project

Project Management

We work with faculty and staff from concept to proposal submission, once your concept meets the following eligibility requirements: 1) a sustainable new or existing project/program approved by your dean/chair, 2) must be led by an engaged faculty or staff member; and 3) project/program addresses a clear societal need, supported by goals and objectives and thoughts on measurable impact.

Project management services during the proposal process include:

  • Team meetings and work plan development
  • Research foundation partners
  • Planning and budget development
  • Editing letters of inquiry
  • Coordinating foundation meetings and/or site visits
  • Proposal packaging and submission

Stewardship and Reporting

Once a relationship between a Foundation and the University begins, our office will assist in maintaining that relationship by sharing applicable project updates, ensuring timely submission of reports and seeking opportunities for additional engagement, both on and off campus.
