Apply as a first-year applicant if you have never attended college before.

Standardized test scores are optional for most first-year students applying for admission in Spring 2023 and Fall 2023. Applicants for the Guaranteed Entrance Program to Upstate Medical and home-schooled applicants must submit test scores.
Test scores can be submitted on your official high school transcript or from the appropriate testing agency.

Complete the essay component of at least 250 words on the Common Application or SUNY Application.
Submit one recommendation from a teacher or counselor through the Common Application or the SUNY Application.
The non-refundable application fee is $50. Submit your fee with your application or request a fee waiver through SUNY.

TRANSFER APPLICANTS
Apply as a transfer student if you have attended another college or university, even if you were only enrolled for a semester.
Fall Application Priority Deadline: May 1

Official transcripts for all work taken at any college or university must be submitted, regardless of whether you expect to receive transfer credit. Transcript(s) can be sent directly to:

UAlbany also participates in e-transcripts. If you’ve completed college-level work at a participating e-transcript institution, you may request to have your official transcript sent electronically from your institution directly to UAlbany.
Note: If you've completed fewer than 24 transferable college credits, you'll also need to submit an official high school transcript. All enrolled transfer students will need to supply an official final high school transcript with graduation date or the equivalent before the start of classes.
