JANE ALTES
became the second president of Empire State College in 1998.
Before joining the College as vice president for Academic Affairs,
she was associate vice chancellor for Academic Programs in the
SUNY System Administration. Vice President Al Gore recently appointed
her to the national task force on 21st Century Skills for 21st
Century Jobs. Throughout her career, she has served as a higher
education consultant to various institutions. Altes earned her
Ph.D. in public policy from St. Louis University.
