Meet the Orientation Staff

by Carol Olechowski

Right now is the most exciting time of your life! You've just graduated from high school — or you'll graduate soon — and you're looking forward to attending the University at Albany.

Your University years will be important, because they'll prepare you for a career and for a satisfying personal life. You'll study hard and learn a lot, but you'll also have opportunities to have fun. Through classes, community service projects, athletics and recreation, and involvement in club activities, you'll build your leadership and teamwork skills. You'll also make friendships that will last a lifetime.

But just as you need preparation for the future, you need preparation for college. And that's where the University at Albany's Orientation Program comes in.

The orientation experience includes meetings about what to expect during your first weeks at Albany and informational sessions about residential life. You'll learn how to use campus e-mail and have your picture taken for your SUNYCard. (Smile!) You'll work with academic advisers to put together the class schedule for your first semester. At lunch, you'll sample the offerings in the dining hall. And at a special social event, you'll meet other incoming Albany students — and begin forging those lifelong friendships! At the same time, special programs — including tours, speakers programs, and lunch — will introduce parents to one another.

Here, we've put together a special album of photos taken during recent orientation sessions. We hope you enjoy these pictures — and we look forward to welcoming you to the University at Albany!
