
Graduation is an exciting and memorable event for students and their
families, as well as the University community. We hope that all of our
graduates will celebrate their achievements and acknowledge the support of
their families and friends by participating in this year's Commencement
ceremonies. It is our goal to assist you in making the necessary
arrangements for your family by providing you with Commencement Weekend
event information well in advance.
Please be aware that detailed information will be mailed to the permanent address of each graduate in mid-March. If you require further information please call the Commencement Hotline at 518/442-9079.
Graduates should arrive by 9:15 a.m. for assembly in the Exhibition Hall
(Entrance on Beaver Street). Participants must wear proper academic
regalia.
Graduate Ceremony
Graduates should arrive by 1:30 p.m. for assembly in the first floor lobby
of the Physical Education Building. Participants must wear academic
regalia. Each degree candidate will be individually recognized.
Eligible students must pick up participant tickets in AD 123 from May 5-9,
1997. A University identification card will be required. All students
wishing to attend Commencement should plan to pick up a participant ticket
and other commencement related information during this period.
Degree recipients who graduated in August 1996 or December 1996 can
pick up their participant tickets at the Box Office of the Pepsi Arena
(for the undergraduate ceremony) or the RACC (for the graduate ceremony)
beginning two hours before each ceremony.

Torch Night Ceremony
This heartwarming traditional ceremony has four exciting components:
The Class of 1997 will pass their "Torch of Knowledge" to a member of
the Junior Class; The Class of 1997 will present to the University
President its Senior Gift; The Alumni Association President will
welcome the Class into the association and speak about their new role
as alumni; Two graduates will win a gift certificate for travel worth
approximately $1,000. Graduates should wear gowns (caps not necessary)
and register for the trip by 8:30 p.m. Friends and Family are
welcomed. A reception will follow in the Campus Center Extension.

Tickets
All graduates must have a ticket in order to be admitted to the
University's 153rd Commencement exercises at the Pepsi Arena and Recreation
and Convocation Center (RACC). No exceptions can be made to this policy on
Commencement day. Guests DO NOT NEED tickets to be admitted to either
ceremony.
