Welcome� to the Fifth Biennial Scholars� Conference on American Jewish History! We look forward to what promises to be an intellectually stimulating and enriching national meeting. COSTS
�
$125 registration fee covers conference sessions, kosher meals, celebratory banquet, tour of historic Albany and transfers between the hotels and conference. See the attached conference itinerary for details.
$25 for attendance at the Monday night (June 10) banquet only.
Community members who wish to attend the conference will be charged a registration fee on a pro-rated basis.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Participants are encouraged to stay at one of the three hotels listed in the chart below, and should make their own reservations. Transfers to/from the campus and each of the hotels will be available. These hotels are especially convenient due to their proximity to the campus (adjacent to campus grounds). Furthermore, they are all extending to conference participants the official New York State rate of $96/room, per night. Please see the grid below for additional details.

*NOTE: Each of the hotels has agreed to reserve blocks of rooms exclusively for the conference. The hotel must receive reservations by attendees, before May 8, 2002. Otherwise, the hotels reserve the right to release any unused rooms for general sale. Reservations will then be on a space and rate available basis.
Changes to reservations may be made up to 72 hours prior to your arrival date. Any changes to reservations within 72 hours prior to your arrival date, will incur a charge equal to the room rate and applicable taxes.
All reservations must be accompanied by a first night room deposit or guaranteed by a credit card.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
All conference activities, unless otherwise noted, will take place in the Campus Center at the University at Albany (uptown campus), 1400 Washington Avenue, Albany. Details about the precise location of sessions and events will be forthcoming.
The conference will generally have a casual atmosphere. Please dress comfortably. Dress for the banquet on Monday evening, June 10, will be business attire.
We are pleased to announce that there will also be a book fair at the conference. Further details will be forthcoming. Conference participants are encouraged to communicate with their publishers and recommend that they contact Yoel Hirschfeld in this regard.
CONFERENCE SESSIONS
Individual conference presentations will be limited to 20 minutes each. Commentators� remarks will be limited to 15 minutes per session. All conference participants are encouraged to distribute abstracts and/or copies of their papers at the sessions.

From the Visitors Lot at Collins Circle: As you climb the steps of the main entrance to campus, you are stepping onto the �Podium.� Directly opposite the main entrance is the Campus Center. Turn right toward the old University Library. Turn left at the library. After the library, turn right and then take a left (past the planter) into the Humanities Building. Train
The train stop serving the University is the Albany-Rensselaer Station, located across the Hudson River from Albany. The station is approximately 7 miles from campus. Taxis are located at the entrance of the train station. Once you arrive in Albany. You can get to campus either by taxi or by bus.
