January 31, 2002To: Faculty, Staff and Students
In view of the weather, classes will be cancelled for the remainder of the day effective 4:00 PM.
In addition, the University's liberal leave policy is effective immediately to allow employees the opportunity to start home earlier than usual today. While we want to be sensitive to reasonable concerns that staff may have to commute safely, we will expect supervisors to exercise responsible judgment to insure that essential, core services are maintained. All offices that provide direct service to the public will be expected to remain open, though with minimal staffing. Time taken off must be charged to accruals.
At this time, we expect to resume normal operations by the beginning of classes tomorrow morning; however, we are closely monitoring the weather and will make a final decision about tomorrow at approximately 4:00 AM. Current information about any changes to this plan can be obtained from the University's web-page or by calling the University's weather condition "hot-line" (442-SNOW).
Please consult with Dr. Richard Farrell in the President's Office if you have any questions regarding this announcement.
