To: University at Albany Community From: J.Frank Wiley
Chief of Police
In light of our nation's heightened precautions in response to the threat of additional terrorist attacks, the University at Albany is taking many proactive measures to upgrade the level of security on campus. Some of these measures will be obvious to the campus community. Other measures represent internal steps taken by the University Police Department to increase security preparedness, and, while these measures may not be as obvious to the community, they are nonetheless essential in assuring overall safety for our campus citizens. The following security measures are in effect for Homecoming Weekend:
Football Game:
This event will take place on University Field. Large bags, coolers, bottles, umbrellas, backpacks, etc. will be discouraged. There will an increased police presence and all bags will be inspected at the gate. The State Police will do a bomb sweep for us before the event begins as an added precaution.Comedy Night:
This event will take place in the Campus Center Ballroom and no backpacks, large bags, umbrellas or bottles will be allowed. Metal detection will be used and all persons are subject to search. The safety and security of every member of our campus community is critically important to us. We will take every measure necessary to insure your continued protection and safety.
